Warranty & Returns

What is your warranty?

LIFETIME WARRANTY

We are proud to offer a lifetime warranty on the structure of each product to the original purchaser of the product. This applies to:

  • Defects in material and craftsmanship, which impair the use of the product for which it is intended
  • Conditions of normal and proper use

The warranty does NOT apply to defects caused by or due to improper installation, alteration, abuse, neglect, accident, corrosion, and normal wear and tear.

The warranty covers repair or replacement of the product, at our discretion, and only after receiving the product for inspection. The warranty does not  cover freight charges, labor cost, installation cost, incidental or consequential damages, or cost due to down time of the vehicle.

POWDER COAT WARRANTY

Due to normal wear and tear, and exposure to natural elements, we offer a 60-day warranty against defects in the powder coat. This includes reasonable sized gouges or scratches. Just like any other part of your vehicle, if you live in a climate that salts highways, make sure to spray down your components to prevent corrosion.

For small touch up applications, we've found that the Krylon Fusion Textured Black Spray Paint is an almost perfect match to our powder coat. For small scratches, we recommend this paint.

Please note: Any products returned for warranty consideration must be accompanied by a written description of the damage and how it happened, along with a copy of the original invoice at the time of purchase. Products are then inspected and must meet the warranty guidelines stated online for credit to be issued. If approved, Backwoods Adventure Mods will have a reasonable amount of time to remedy the defect and will repair or replace the product at no additional charge.

Product Lead Times

What are your lead times?

In most cases, we batch build our products simply because we're set up that way. As a result, it's very difficult to provide an accurate lead time down to the week. We cannot and do not build singular product SKU's at a time. If it's not in stock, it will get queued into the next batch build, which usually resets roughly every 30 days. In most cases, we actually have product in stock, product currently being built, or product at powder coat.

Backwoods manufactured products have some of the shortest lead times in the industry. We think 10+ week lead times are simply unacceptable. To cut to the chase, we're a large scale production company, which means we use only the latest and greatest technology in tooling, lasers, brake presses, folders, and even robotics. On top of our tooling capabilities, we also have a crew of some of the best metal craftsmen in the business, all with years of experience. It's these reasons that give us a unique edge on small lead times and even allow us to have product in stock.

When will I know a product is back in stock?

We have a feature built into our website that shows live inventory for our products. If a product says "In stock", then we currently have that product. If a product says "Re-stocking soon", then it means exactly that – a batch build is on it's way or queued up.

We also have a way for you to be notified once product is back in stock. Just click the Nofity me button on the product page and enter your contact info and we'll send you a message once it's back. You can always still place your order anyway.

Is Backwoods build to order?

No. In most cases, we batch build our products simply because we're set up that way. As a result, it's sometimes difficult to provide an accurate lead time down to the week. We cannot and do not build singular product SKU's at a time. If it's not in stock, it will get queued into the next batch build, which usually resets roughly every 30 days. In most cases, we actually have product in stock, product currently being built, or product at powder coat.

Toyota Products FAQs

Does the connector skid plate work with the factory skid/TRD skid?

It does not. You will need an aftermarket skid plate system to attach our connector. It works with most aftermarket skid plate systems, but not all.

Can I use a roller fairlead on my 4Runner bumper?

Nope. Only hause style fairleads will fit with our bumper. They do work on Tacoma bumpers, however.

Roof Rack FAQs

Does my awning work with the DRIFTR rack?

In most cases, awnings should be compatible with our roof rack. Since our side plates and extrusions mount flush together, this creates a perfect 90 degree edge to accomodate most L shaped brackets that come standard with awnings. For 270 degree awnings, some special brackets may be required. We do sell our own awning brackets that work really well with our roof rack. The mounting interface is slotted and made to accomodate most 180 degree awnings.

How can I mount accessories?

There are several ways you can mount your accessories to our DRIFTR rack. Our extrusions are triple slotted, meaning there's 3 T-nut channels per extrusion. Our T-nuts roll or slide into each slot on the extrusion wherever you want and they provide an anchor for a 1/4-20 bolt. You can insert our T-nuts into the extrusion by rolling and slightly tapping them into the channel or you can remove one side of the extrusion and slide them into the channel.

Additionally, we have Deck Accessory Panels that allow you to mount gear even quicker and easier. These deck panels are compatible with E-Track, L-Track, 3/8 carriage bolts, 1/4 carriage bolts, and have generic oval shaped slots to fit ratchet straps and bungee hooks. These panels mount directly to your roof rack extrusions with T-nuts and give you the ability to fully or partially deck your rack so you can walk or stand on it. It also gives you much more surface area for mounting gear.
